Data Hub
Those who work in the racial justice space will know that the data available on race disparities is limited, and where there is data, it is often dispersed and difficult to find or understand. This data hub aims to bring together national, regional, and local data showing the nature of race disparities in the South West in relation to key social policy areas such as health, housing, and education, to help us understand what data is being held, in what form and what the gaps are. In addition, we hope to address issues of accessibility by providing not only these raw data, but charts, graphs, and summaries of the data to ensure that those who work in the race equality space have access to the information they need in ways that work for them.
To date we have gathered race disparity data from several national data sources such as the Office for National Statistics, the Department for Work and Pensions, and the National Government’s Race Disparity Unit, with the support of students at the University of Bristol. It is organised around several themes including health, education, work, housing, and culture. This is an ongoing project. We are continually working to add more data to the hub. More categories will therefore be added in due course.
Below each theme, we have added a list of the sources for the data. In each section we have included a summary of the data on race disparity held on each site and a guide on how to navigate the website, should you wish to use it.
Should your organisation have any data race disparities that you happy to add to the hub, please get in touch with the team on research@bswn.org.uk
